Heart of Midlothian William Hill Premiership

Wouter Vrancken joins Hearts

Belgian head coach replaces Derek McInnes

Heart of Midlothian have confirmed Wouter Vrancken as the club's new head coach.

The 47-year-old Belgian replaces Derek McInnes following his decision to become Rangers manager.

Vrancken arrives at Tynecastle following the club's second place finish in the William Hill Premiership last season, losing out on the title in a final-day decider with Celtic.

In his homeland, Vrancken guided St. Truiden to a 3rd place finish in the Belgian Pro League in 2025/26 having previously taken charge of Genk, Gent, Mechelen and Lommel.

The new head coach's first match in charge will be a UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie against Sturm Graz of Austria on July 21.

Hearts' William Hill Premiership opener is away to Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday 1 August, LIVE on Sky Sports (5:30pm kick-off).
